The Program
Class Structure:
Each Education In Dance residency class combines:
- Basic dance techniques and skills with creative movement
- Quality music (classical, jazz, ethnic)
- Visual artforms: Paintings, sculpture, photographs
- Nutritional awareness (great foods for body and brain)
- Basic tumbling skills
- Drama games for self-esteem
- Sensory awareness methods
- A curriculum which highlights shapes, levels, colors, locomotor skills, seasonal and nature themes, as well as school-based program concepts addressing the New York State Standards and the NYCDOE Blueprint for the Arts.
Residency Options:
Education In Dance faculty are available to teach residencies:
- Ongoing and various lengths, depending upon school's needs.
- Meeting with each class once per week.
- 30-45 minute classes with 5 minute passage time.
- Half-day (4 consecutive classes) or Full-day (6 classes) residencies available.
- Pre- and Post-residency faculty development workshops offered.
- Team taught classes.
- Parental and community involvement in the creative process encouraged.
