Dance Curriculum

The Education In Dance program is a unique movement/dance/music/arts curriculum for students beginning at the preschool level, designed to nurture the creative process for a lifetime.

- For UPK and Head Start students (ages 3 – 6 years old), our classes combine basic dance skills with creative movement, positive self-esteem games, and quality music from many lands and visual art forms as they relate to dance.

- Our classes for ages 6 – 12 years old build upon our early dance program and include intermediate dance skills, traveling/across the floor combinations, various dance techniques and an introduction to choreographic explorations for individuals (solos), pairs (duets) and groups.

- For children ages 13 years through adults, we continue with our creative contemporary dance approach and add classes in different dance techniques – Modern, Ballet, Jazz, African, Latin, Irish Step, etc.  We also offer classes and residencies in Choreography – focusing on composition, technique, and critique.

EID offers assemblies which highlight the integrated arts through lecture/demonstration and audience participation for all ages, which may also spotlight Modern, Ballet, Jazz, African, Latin, Irish Step, etc. techniques and performance.

Our integrated dance arts enrichment program provides a meaningful introduction and foundation in all the arts for lifetime enhancement.  We reach all ages and populations including Special Education and English Language Learners, as well as specially designed Multicultural, Conflict Resolution, Grief/Crisis Concerns, and Adaptive Physical Education residencies.  These programs stimulate creativity and intellectual growth while contributing to emotional and physical well-being.

The curriculum is designed for the classroom teachers to connect, enhance, and support the academic subject foci as well as honor dance as a distinct subject.  Our goal is to give students a balance in their lives so that they may be motivated, engaged, and enriched for a lifetime.
