Dance Curriculum

The Education In Dance program is a unique movement/dance/music/arts curriculum for students beginning at the preschool level through adult, designed to nurture the creative process for a lifetime.

This integrated dance arts enrichment program provides a meaningful introduction and foundation in all the arts for lifetime enhancement.  We reach all ages and populations including Special Education, Bilingual/ESL, Gifted/TAG, as well as specially designed Multicultural, Conflict Resolution, Grief/Crisis Concerns, and Adaptive Physical Education residencies.  These programs stimulate creativity and intellectual growth while contributing to emotional and physical well-being.

The curriculum is designed with the classroom teachers to connect, enhance, and support the academic subject foci as well as honor dance as a distinct subject.  Our goal is to give students a balance in their lives so that they may be motivated, engaged, and enriched for a lifetime

·         Our classes for UPK and Head Start students (ages 3 – 6 years old) combine basic dance skills with creative movement, positive self-esteem games, quality music from many lands, visual art forms, and tumbling as it relates to dance.

·         Building upon our early dance program, our classes form ages 6 – 12 years include intermediate dance skills, traveling/across the floor combinations, various dance techniques and an introduction to choreographic explorations for individuals (solos), pairs (duets) and groups.

·         For ages 13 years through adults, we continue with our creative contemporary dance approach and add classes in different dance techniques – Modern, Ballet,  Jazz, African, Latin, Irish Step, etc.  We also offer classes and residencies in Choreography – focusing on composition, technique, and critique.

·         EID offers assemblies which highlight the integrated arts through lecture/demonstration and audience participation for all ages, which may also spotlight Modern, Ballet, Jazz, African, Latin, Irish Step, etc. techniques and performance.
