Students of All Needs

Residencies for students with special needs are designed in consultation with each school’s faculty and support team.  Thus, our workshop classes for children of different needs address their individual challenges and focus on developing new skills. Our teaching-artists provide stimulation of the senses through bonding with each child in ways we discover together. Our work is enriched by the contributions and participation of each site’s teaching team.

In each class we explore the expansion of fine and gross motor skills, as well as locomotor patterns through combinations which are separate and unique for each student. By tailoring adaptive physical education techniques, we strengthen self-awareness and self-esteem. As a group, we respond to rhythmic music and percussion. Props, bright artwork and pictures are introduced to expand concepts. Examples of healthful foods for the body and brain, and photographs of dancers of all genres are shared.

Please contact us for specific curriculum proposals for your unique student population.
